Among all the different species of plants, the white thistle (Galactites tomentosa) is one of the most visited by bees. The spiny stem and the white downy covering of the underside of the leaves make it easy to recognise. It's a typical Mediterranean plant and it grows in uncultivated soils, from the planes to the mountains. It's particularly abundant in pastures because of its spines, which make it unpalatable to animals, who prefer tenderer grasses.
