White fir is a tree that can grow up to fifty meters in height. It
grows in woods, either by itself or together with trees that have the
same climate and soil needs, such as beeches and red firs. In Italy, it
can be found to grow spontaneously in the Alps between 800 and 1800 metres
of altitude, and on the Apennines.
Honeydew is produced as a result of the attack of small insects that
puncture the leaves to suck out the lymph. The sweet sticky substance
that is left on the leaves, the honeydew, attracts the bees who collect
the droplets one by one.
