Thyme has been appreciated since the stone age. Traces of various species
of thyme were found among the remains from primitive man's fires. It is
thought they burned thyme to enjoy its fragrance and discourage insects.
Among the various species, the bees' favourite is captatus thyme, a small
bush that grows in the warmest areas of the Mediterranean. You can find
it in pine-woods or by itself, forming desolate brush-covered moors.
