A typical Alpine plant, rhododendron is a small evergreen bush with deep red flowers. It can be seen covering gravel slopes and land-slides in a blanket of colour. It grows on mountain slopes and reaches high altitudes, beyond the vegetation limit. It's a protected species, and its flowers should not be picked.
