Many bees, many tasks
The new-born bee cleans herself and a few hours later she starts
to clean the cells where the eggs were kept.
To clean up she must also carry out the waste, such as ill-kept
pollen, old wax tops, dead bees, etc.
When she is three days old she starts to take care of the hatch.
Young bees are very well cared for: each larva is inspected one
to two thousand times.
When she is one week old, the worker-bee can produce wax so she
starts building new honeycombs or repairing the old ones. She also
takes care of the storage of pollen and honey.
When she is ten days old the bee starts to harvest outside the beehive.
Some bees are used for defence before they go out collecting. Sentry
bees can stay on guard for as long as four days without interruption.
