The bee-keeper's is a very peculiar work, because bees (notwithstanding the name, apis domestica) are by no means domestic animals. The bee-keeper must mould his every gesture to their behaviour, if he wants to raise them. In order to produce honey the bee-keeper must push the bees to accumulate more supplies than they need. Then he collects only the excess honey, offering in exchange the help the bees need to get through the winter safely.
When he wants to produce a particular kind of honey, the bee-keeper becomes nomadic. At night he loads the bees on trucks and transports them to places hundreds of kilometres away, in quest of great expanses of meadows or trees in bloom.
